* Identified depositional systems for the New Denmark region belonging to the Anglo American Corporation, which will be equally applicable in similar environments in un-mined areas, interpretation and reconstruction of the palaeonvironments.
* Interpreted the depositional systems that formed the strata associated with No. 4 coal seam, and identified what role these played in controlling the roof conditions, the relationship between various depositional environments that cause unstable roof conditions, different trends in the roof in relation to the different facies types, for long and short term mine planning.

MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS: I commenced employment with Rio Tinto in April 2007 as a Project Geologist (Coal), responsible for the Asia Region. I am held responsible for advising and consulting a team of technical, administrative and field staff to rapidly advance exploration prospects through to the mining projects. Management of the exploration programmes, include regular travel to Asia, responsibility for the direction and expansion of all existing projects, due diligence assessments of potential acquisitions and joint ventures of both coking and thermal coal. Design of coal analytical programmes and manage exploration and evaluation work according to the company HSEC policies business integrity.

MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS: I was employed from April 1998 to the end of 2004 as a Senior Geologist, in the Management, based in Witbank, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. Key responsibilities included:
* I was responsible for the first line support for three open pit mines and two underground mines, transferring information to planning and production personnel on daily basis, ensuring continues productivity.
* Supporting Anglo American strategic objectives through the provision of geological services to existing operations and new resource prospects in the South Africa.
* Constructing, validating and delivering accurate resource models to Anglo Coal operations, updated at appropriate intervals for each operation, in a format that is appropriate to each site and that will allow accurate mine planning and production scheduling.
* Managing the day to day geological 2D/3D coal modelling activities and reserves calculations for current mining and future exploration projects to ensure maximum reserves at lowest ratios are mined out throughout the Mpumalanga and Free State Provinces in South Africa. Manage the SAMREC/JORC coal reserve reporting and 5 year forecast as required by the relevant legislation. Here I shared responsibility with the Chief Mine Geologist.
* Identifying and solving the sampling problem within the company improving production and saving the company budget. I managed all core and SGS laboratory data in accordance with corporate record-keeping requirements.
* Management of applications and renewal of exploration prospecting permits, conversion to a new order prospecting rights or mining permit, environmental management plan and budgets in a few South African Provinces, dealing with the legal issues on companies' behalf relating to the change in the South African minerals and mining legislation, the contractors, farmers and the government authorities and conducting field exploration programmes.
* Able to communicate at all levels and motivate multicultural team, work independently or be a part of the team I was invited on numerous occasions by the Mine Managers to be a relief Chief/Mine geologist at the collieries when needed including open cast (exporting coal Landau and Kromdraai, Kleinkopje and Kriel) and underground operations (Greenside and Kriel) like: grade control, mapping, supervising a drilling rig including percussion and diamond drilling, sampling, updating databases, transfer information to planning and production personnel, weekly and monthly reports to the senior vice president.
